Matt Backer was born in New Orleans, and was educated in Venezuela, Belgium, the US and the UK, and lives beyond his means with his wife and children in North London.

He additionally composes production music that has featured in adverts for Kellog's, Grolsch, Carlsberg and Bass. Soundtrack music has appeared on "Buffy The Vampire Slayer", "The West Wing"and "Third Rock From The Sun" as well as countless other programmes worldwide. His first foray into the printed word will be published shortly. He wrote the chapter on Blues guitar for the Cambridge Companion to Gospel and Blues.

 

Matt Backer's third solo album, "Idle Hands", has just been released and is now available through iTunes, Amazon or through RightRecordings. The first single of the album is a duet with Matt's good friend/colleague Julian Lennon and it has hit the top 10 of many American charts!

 

As Matt says: 'It's an interesting new thing for me to be out there playing my own music and being the one being interviewed'.
