Carol Decker first appeared on the music scene in 1987, fronting the successful pop/rock band T’Pau. Instantly memorable with a huge voice and a mass of red hair, Carol made an undeniable impact on the public.
The band’s debut album, ‘Bridge Of Spies’ went quadruple platinum and spawned a string of worldwide hits, including ‘Heart and Soul’, which stayed on the US billboard chart for 6 months, peaking at number 4 and, of course, most notably ‘China In Your Hand’, which occupied the number one slot in the UK for 5 weeks.
The country went T’Pau mad!
Carol is one of a hand full of artists who has achieved a simultaneous number one single (China In Your Hand) and number one album (Bridge Of Spies).
Platinum albums ‘Rage’ and ‘The Promise’ followed adding to the band’s worldwide success. T’Pau toured globally and continuously with the likes of Bryan Adams and Nik Kershaw, eventually selling out their own arena shows including Wembley and the Birmingham NEC.
The original line-up split in 1991, but Carol continues to tour and record under the banner of T’Pau. She has also acted on the West End stage in ‘Mum’s The Word’, in an ensemble cast including Patsy Palmer, Jennie Éclair and Imogen Stubbs.
TV appearances include BBC daytime drama ‘Doctors’, ‘Star’ (a children’s TV drama) alongside Nicolas Hoult. Film credits include ‘Nine Dead Gay Guys’ with Stephen Berkoff and BAFTA nominated ‘Running Time’, the first ever interactive movie.
Over the last 20 years Carol has been a popular guest on countless TV and Radio shows including Buzzcocks, Trigger Happy TV, Hit Me Baby One More Time, Just The Two Of Us, The Matthew Wright Show, Ken Bruce (Radio 2), Claudia Winkleman (live acoustic performance), Celebrity Mastermind, The Christian O’Connell Beer & Cake Club with David Tennant.
Carol has also presented radio shows for London’s LBC, BBC Radio Berks and Absolute 80s.
In 2012, ‘China In Your Hand’ re-entered the UK Top 40 following a contestant singing it in the XFactor.
Being a mum to two lively kids, Carol combines a varied career with a busy family life.
Carol is celebrating her 25th year in the music business in 2013, touring with a brand new line-up of T'Pau.
